I am writing today about spell-crafting. Not necessarily hoodoo, - TopicsExpress

I am writing today about spell-crafting. Not necessarily hoodoo, but in general. Yes, you can use other peoples spells, but writing your own is a great skill to have. You may have something you need to do instantly, or something that just comes up and you need a spell quick, or simply cannot find a spell that fits your situation. So, think of todays post as Spell-crafting 101: First, we begin with a want or a need. Spend a little time, even if youre in a hurry, really defining this want or need, as it is the basis for the spell. On this, we are going to build the various components. Then, write it down, just as it comes out of your head. Dont edit yourself, as that initial burst of want or need is where the passion is. Dont even worry about grammar at this point, or sentence structure. (I cant believe I just said that, lol, being an English major!) Keep the passion; dont worry over grammar. Well clean up our words in a moment. Now, lets line up our tools that would help with the spell. Do we think candles? A poppet? Which herbs would correspond? Do we need graveyard dirt? What colors do we associate with this work we want to do? What moon phase? What day of the week? Do we even want to worry about any of that at all? Do we just want something quick and easy? (Thats okay too. Some of my most magical spells have been sans tools...just my sheer will.) Once we have all our tools lined up, its time to turn our attention back to the spell itself. This is important. This is your wish that you will send out to the universe. Always craft in the present tense. The past we can do nothing about, so focus on the past is wasted focus. The future keeps what we want just out of our reach. Always craft in the present tense. Imagine what it feels like to already have this want or need, feel it, enjoy that feeling, then change up the words you wrote earlier to reflect that. For example, if I want to lose 20 pounds, I would never say, I will lose, or I want to lose. Because think about it, you WILL be losing that same 20 pounds forever, or you will be WANTING to lose them. Instead, write you spell as I am releasing weight, I am feeling healthier, I am looking slim, I am in great shape, I am stronger. Get it? Also, use affirmative words. This sounds like a big DUH, but do an experiment for me....go ask some people, here or there today, what they want. Listen to what they say. Nine times out of ten, people will tell you what they want, by telling you what they dont want. This is crazy. We have to make our self-talk, and our wishes and dreams in the affirmative, not the negative. What do I want? I dont know, I just dont want to be fat anymore. WTH? Guess what? I just told the universe to keep me fat. I chose the example of losing weight because almost ALL the words associated with losing weight are negative. LOSING weight, I DONT want to be fat, Im SICK of being fat, I HATE my thighs. And the list goes on and on. See why we stay fat? How do we change it? We flip the switch. We frame our wishes, our commands, our dreams, our SELF-TALK in the affirmative. Who wants to LOSE something? Lets say, I am releasing these extra pounds, or I am shedding this extra weight or I am feeling stronger and thinner each day, or I am healthy. Or my favorite one, I LOOK GREAT. Say THAT to yourself every day, and some SERIOUS magic will happen! I truly think this is where some of us go wrong in our magic, why some of our spells dont work. Its not because the spells dont work; its because we asked for the wrong things, in the wrong way. How to avoid this? Remember this little rhyme: Intention clear, words clear What you want is already here. ps About rhyme....no, the spell doesnt always need to rhyme, but think about it. How many song lyrics are floating around in your head right now? Lots, huh? Why? Rhyming makes things easier to remember. Now, go forth and conjure!
