I, as well as others Mary Linger Posey have followed this issue for years. Waste To Energy is literally a decades old issue! Is it a perfect solution? No. Is it a viable solution? Yes. But, this recent change has a major point that no one has recognized! The “commenter’s” on the FNP have also followed this for years and they missed it! The radio personalities have followed this for years and they too missed it! This one paragraph covers it! Were not locked in by a contract that had us on the hook financially, Young said. If there is a better option than building a waste-to-energy facility in Frederick County, we can walk away without having any financial ramifications. Having worked in government for years, this point (made by the President of the Young BoCC) makes the most important point! “Flexibility” As a general proposition, government is not and cannot be flexible – so many cooks, so many sign-offs, so many decisions which amount to long-term problems with solutions that require long-term sign offs from the top down. But, in this instance, the Young Board has actually figured out a real solution, based upon circumstance they inherited, in which a truly viable, long-term, realistic, and wise solution can be derived! Think in those terms folks – a Board with a knowledge and focus upon wise business contracts is working out a wise, long-term solution to our waste problems. THIS IS THE KIND OF LEADERSHIP FREDERICK COUNTY NEEDS! Knowledge of technology coupled with wise business negotiations. < This is the most basic example of why Blaine Young is who we need leading us into the next cycle of our Frederick County government – knowledge of the best sources for making wise decisions coupled with excellent business acumen! >
