I cannot make an exact identification of these tiny white wild flowers, that seem to grow in a mat like formation here at the Lozeau Lodge property. I believe them to be of the Saxifrage group. Either Spotted Saxifrage, Prickly Saxifrage, Western Saxifrage, or Diamond leaved Saxifrage (the most likely). They are evergreen, they are mat or cushion forming, they are perennial herbs, but the stems are not particularly erect. The leaves appear to be scattered, and small in size, and mainly near the base. They are linear and more egg shaped to elliptical shaped, making them seem more like the Diamond Saxifrage or Snowball Saxifrage, which is known to have dense, head-like clusters of short stalked flowers, and thick leaves on short stalks, with rusty, cobwebby or silky hairs on the lower surfaces of their round toothed edges. These grow on moist, open slopes from foothills to alpine zones ranging from Southern Alberta to Colorado. These are so tiny and close to the ground that it was difficult to get a very clear picture of them.
