I cant help but to sometimes compare the weather in Boston to the weather in Boise, which is my home. I think its so interesting that the two areas, while at roughly the same latitude (Boise - 43.34°N and Boston - 42.22°N), the climates are very different (for many obvious reasons; topography, coastal proximity, humid vs. arid, etc). Either way, I did a little snow-so-far comparison: Boston, MA averages 43 of snow in a season Boise, ID averages 19 Boston, MA has seen 2.9 so far this season Boise, ID has seen 10.7 Boston, MA picked up 56.4 of snow in the 2013-2014 season Boise, ID picked up 14.4 In summary, I have concluded that it is obviously my fault these numbers are wacky. I came to Boston to be a meteorologist forecasting blizzards and Noreasters... and instead, I write home about Christmas at 59° and inches of rain! *** DISCLAIMER: This is in no way a comparison of any other factors of the two places. I just thought it was interesting looking at the snow totals and statistics.
