“I can’t think of a problem in society that can’t be traced in some way back to the abuses of organized labor, so it would be hypocritical of us to take a day off on its behalf,” said Freedom Foundation CEO Tom McCabe, in announcing the “work-in.” Yeah, hes obviously talking about societal problems like wealth inequality, the lack of universal health care, poverty -- to include the highest child poverty rate in the developed world, racism, police brutality, etc. All those things can be traced directly back to unions. Say, what? Tom McCabe, just how stupid do you think we are? Im not saying that unions are perfect. Theyre not. But if Im deciding whether big tax-dodging, wage-stealing, jobs-outsourcing corporations or unions have been better for America, Im sorry. Im going with the unions. I hope you enjoy working on Labor Day. But somehow, I dont think youll be working very hard. But if you decide you really do want to work, come on down to Walmart and put in a shift in the warehouse for the minimum wage. Then youll have some idea what real work is.
