I did not know Michael Brown, but I grieve for him. As a nation, I - TopicsExpress

I did not know Michael Brown, but I grieve for him. As a nation, I hope we all grieve for this young man whos life was cut short. I hope we each try to understand why this truly happened. How would this look and feel differently if Mike Brown was any of our 18 year old brother, best friend, son? Would you believe the same things about the case? We will never know all the exact facts, details, nuances to this situation because none of us were there. What happened is a pattern in our nation, and it stems from a deeply tragic history our nation will always bear, a history that I will always bear. It is perpetuated by fear and misunderstanding. It is not my fault that this happened, or that our nation has a horrible family secret called slavery that was a result of extreme hate and violence. Like it or not, I am part of this because I have benefitted from this system and others have been oppressed. It is my responsibility to bear it, and try to heal it within myself and those I know. I challenge you, my friends, to go to this site to look at the trailer for the documentary film If These Halls Could Talk by Director, Lee Mun Wah. This film is a good place to start in trying to understand these issues. https://youtube/watch?v=o_81DwriCNc
