I dont mean to be devils advocate here. I love Philippine boxing. I love Filipino boxers. Im one of the most nationalistic Pinoys you could ever think of and I hate being subjective, which is why I need the observations to come from you guys yourselves. Filipino boxers are some of the most hardworking, determined, focused, and ambitious athletes in the world but with the recent defeats suffered by some of our best bets, I now wonder whats wrong and what areas for improvement need to be addressed. Upsets happen in boxing. Its normal. You get careless, you pay for it. When your opponent is just the better man one night, regardless what his record is, a loss is likely. Nonetheless, which aspect should be critiqued here? The boxer? The trainer? The sparring partners used for preparation? The game plan? The training program? Or, are they just one-hit wonders or overrated boxers and got exposed the hard way when they stepped up in competition? Fights to look into: Merlito Sabillos loss to Mexican Francisco Rodriguez Jr. who was brutally stopped by Nicaraguan Roman Gonzalez last year. Highly-touted Rocky Fuentess UD loss to Thai Amnat Ruenroeng (who is 6 years his senior and only had 11 pro fights when they fought) last January. Marco Demecillos 4th-rd KO loss to Mexican David Sanchez last January. Marvin Mabaits upset loss to Mexican Alejandro Hernandez who had 10 losses when they faced just last month. Cebuano Romnick Magos suffering a beating prior to a 2nd-rd stoppage loss to Thai Pungluang Sor Singyu last December. Comebacking Jundy Maraons 7th-rd KO loss to undefeated yet unknown Juan Carlos Payano of Dominican Republic. Rolly Lunas and Drian Francisco both suffering painful defeats against Latino-American Chris Avalos. Highly-experienced and durable Jimrex Jaca getting stopped in the 7th rd by Japanese Shinya Iwabuchi just last February. Powerful Jose Maxian getting overpowered and then knocked out in the 3rd rd by undefeated Adrian Estrella of Mexico. Prospect Jovylito Aligarbes getting stopped in the 2nd round by Japanese Shingo Wake. And just earlier today, Jun Doliguez losing to a journeyman in Gabriel Francisco Pina (has 11 losses stepping into the fight) of Mexico. #notagood1stquarterforPinoypugs #whatswrong #isPhilBoxingdeclining #Filipinoboxers #Pinoyboxers #Philippineboxing #Pinoyboxing #Pinoypugs Now, comments below.
