“I don’t get paid to do that” I have noticed a general - TopicsExpress

“I don’t get paid to do that” I have noticed a general mind set in people recently which in my opinion is extremely dangerous not only to themselves in the short term but also in the long term. Youve probably heard it or used it before. “I don’t get paid to do that”. I don’t think I’d be where I am in my career if I used that mentality at any point. What would the company you work for be like if the CEO or top management had to say “I don’t get paid to do that”? The business wouldnt last. In fact, it would fail miserably. Here are some points you may want to consider: 1. You will NEVER have a high profile job or a decent salary if you haven’t proven yourself. It takes a lot to prove you are worth a high salary. 2. Every successful person out there has done more than what was required of them. 3. Job specs are the minimum requirements. 4. Loyalty and trust is earned. 5. Your success is in your hands. No one is going to just give it to you. 6. Earning your salary is your business. The people around you, be that management or your peers, are your customers. Treat them as such. 7. You only have so many years in your life where you are able to work. Use them wisely. 8. Lastly (and I can’t stress this enough). If you are going to take advice from someone, especially if they are teaching you not to do your best, consider their success in life.
