I experienced a week without talking. It was during a time when I was depressed and silently plotting my end. After days without speech, I had to go to the store to buy soy sauce. It was funny. I had a difficult time engaging in small talk when the seller began striking a conversation with me. I realized days without talking makes a person incoherent. Life without prayer has the same effect. The gaping lapses that we have in the discipline of prayer make us out of step with God. Numerous doubts begin to sink in and everything appear dry and sullen. Prayer is a conversation that involves more listening than asking. It is in prayer that we seek God and enjoy His presence. And it is essential to us as air. Let us not forget to pray today. "Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NKJV
