I felt really heartpinched when I was working on an assignment about the regime type of HK recently.. I grow up being told that Hong Kong is a democratic city which cherishes freedom and diversity... Yet.. what I see now is that..all these values have been gradually encroached by the authoritarian communists who treat us like idiots by promising us FAKE democratic elections... the apathetic government which pays no attention to our voices...the citizens who still live in the pipe dream that HK will be fine even within the grips of the brutal and corrupt CPC. Hong Kong has been prosperous for decades..not because of the hypocritical Central government ..not because of Li Ka Shing.. not because of the British rule..but because we, the citizens, have been going great lengths to preserve the our core values -- freedom, democracy, rule of law, integrity etc... Whenever I introduce myself as a Hongkonger.. I feel really, really proud.. I hope I can still feel the same in the future . I know, this city is not dying. I still see streaks of lights ...in the square, at least.
