I find it ironic when I hear that people go to church to find - TopicsExpress

I find it ironic when I hear that people go to church to find peace. I guess they conveniently neglect to read the Bible, and history books, and the news. People want to be a part of a community. I get that. They want support. That makes sense. But why do so many feel the need to turn to an institution that promotes belief in fairy tales to find that support? I think its because going to church is free, but secular counseling costs money. Religion is harmful to humanity. You may say that finding Jesus helped your friend, but the truth is that your friend probably could have done it without an imaginary friend, and the harm done by belief in gods far outweighs the good. But thats all beside the point. My point is that believing in something does not make it true. A lot of people I know like to pick and choose what they like about Christianity and go with it. Reality check: Making up something that you like and believing it does not make it true. Would you rather believe a lie that makes you happy or face reality and deal with it? This is a legit question.
