I got a question from a fan about racism. His white daughter has a project where they are given characters from history that they have to portray as if they were wax figures in a museum. Period clothing, wigs etc. She picked a black person from history - but has been specifically told NOT to wear make up to illustrate that this historical figure was black. Faking being black seems more offensive to me than not. Are we worried about the 19th century black face where racial stereotypes were intended to hurt? Talk to me about this.
