I grew up cheering for both U of L and UK. When they played each other I would have cheered for UK. Toward the end of high school I became more of a U of L fan because I got to continue watching Darrell Griffith and Bobby Turner along with their coach Wade Houston at U of L. I used to be one of those love em/hate em fans like so many fans still are today. Then I realized it really is just a game (and for this sports fanatic, that was a change only God could make in my heart, spirit and attitude - seriously, I was wayyy to competitive!). Last nights game was the first time Ive even watched a whole U of L/UK game in several years. It was an exciting atmosphere...like the varsity game after the jv warm-up (sorry TN and MI fans...sorry, but true). And while I did want the Cards to prevail...I just like a good, fairly called game...in ANY sport and for ANY teams playing. I dont want win or lose because of refs! I make my fellow fans at ND games and other events mad when I say a call went our way or yep, we committed the penalty. I have never wanted to win OR lose because of bad officiating. I promised Coach Bailey I wouldnt yell at the refs, that I would conduct myself in a ladylike and Christian manner. I did...but had to rant so FB was it. I wasnt trying to pick a fight, make excuses or anything else but voice frustration. Bad calls were made and missed for both teams...but if any fan of the game watched that game - impartially - and kept track of bad calls...where the outcome of a score or possession was affected...it was obviously one-sided...BUT, if U of L had made their free throws...they could have overcome the bad officiating. Sunday will be another great atmosphere! There will be only chants of Go Blue and Go Big Blue echoing in Lucas Oil. As a KY native, born and bred, Ill be cheering for my states team! Ill also be hoping for a well officiated game. March Madness keeps coming! Isnt it fun?!?!!
