I grew up going to a Jewish school that portrayed the Arabs as the enemy, in the same way the Germans and Japanese were the enemy during World War Two... The thing is, though, Im not Israeli, Im American... The Palestinians, and the surrounding Arab states, werent at war with all Jews, they were at war with the people who engaged in ethnic cleansing of Palestinians... This idea, that the Arabs are the enemy, is racism... I sat through 9 years of Israeli history and never learned about the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians... They told us that the land was mostly empty, and Arabs just attacked Zionist settlers because they hated Jews... I realize now that this was complete bullshit... Colonizers always demonize the people they colonize, call them savages etc... The Palestinians are victims of ethnic cleansing, just like the Native Americans, I realize that now... I posted a very respectful message on the Facebook page of the school I attended (now the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy - K-8 Private School)... I asked them to please teach the kids the real history, and posted a link about the Nakba... They blocked me... The kids need to know the real history... This brainwashing is the root cause of the conflict... Imagine learning American history without the ethnic cleansing of Native Americans... It would make no sense... So how do we make the kids aware?... I think standing across the street with signs (and alerting the media) might be effective in this case. The local news is always desperate for a story, Jews protesting Israel in front of a Jewish school is big news to them... I only became aware that Palestinians were ethnically cleansed when I saw some people protesting... It just made no sense to me, I always thought Israel was the innocent little victim... We might not be able to give them a full explanation, but at least theyll start asking questions... If anyone is interested, please send me a private message.
