I grew up learning the theme song of a regimes utopia...Bagong Lipunan. It was the early 70s. I was in Grade 3. Fast forward. One sunny Saturday in Calgary, my son- who recently graduated full IB highschool- and I , had a leisurely walk and an interesting conversation. Not sure if he was just trying to prove that he learned something from the program that he insists was just forced to him, he explained to me how leaders like Marcos was successful in converting great numbers to his thesis that his was nothing but pure sacrifice for the pinoys. Apparently, it was really hard work to make the world his and his familys shopping mall. I will forever remember that conversation with my son.
