I guess you could say my family was pretty typical. We celebrated holidays like Christmas. Here are a couple of pictures of Robert and David at Christmas time. My dad sprung for the works...new wagons with cowboy hats and guns.And then Halloween with David as Zoro and Robert as the devil . This was the last year at Benton way I might add. The second set of picture are of Robert and David in the red sweaters and the tall kid is Harry Madrid who use to live two houses down.About 5 years later Harry was drafted and had to go fight in Vietnam. He was the son of Elena and Charlie who were very good friends of my dad. on Santa Lucia. The upper left photo was of us in Mexico City in 67. My dad drove us all the way down in a Jeep Wagoneer and all the way back. Robert was holding my little sister Suzie and David had his arm on my shoulder. By the time the Mexico picture was taken, I was introduced to the world of fishing by Robert and David. I remember spending time at P.H. pier with them...running around and checking everyones bucket to see what they had caught. I also remember my brother Robert taking us to the jetty by Dennis the menace park to fish and I got stuck on a rock as the tide was coming in and Robert yelling for me just to stop crying and climb up. It was David who dropped what he was doing and climbed down to help me get back up to the top. David was the one who always was there to protect and save me. No matter what came. Where ever he was I was.I remember him teaching me to cast his fishing pole in the backyard. If it was candy he would share...if you needed help, there he was. All I can say is the fishing thing stuck. And I know for sure that if her were still her, we would be inseparable. He would be 59 this year. I know he would be happy and proud of the things I have done. Im sure I would have talked him into Scuba diving so we could both dive for lobsters. When I take my boat to the ocean or when I use to dive, he was always on my mind. I named my one and only son after him so he will never be forgotten
