I had a wonderful weekend at The St Andrews Society Lisbon Annual Ball held at the Palacio Hotel, Estoril. This was my third time attending this event and my second time playing at it. A huge thanks to the committee for the amazing hospitality shown to us over the weekend. On a more solemn note, on the Sunday I played at an interment of Ashes at the British Cemetery in Lisbon for a Portugese lady who had regularly attended the St Andrews Ball and had a close affinity for Scotland. St Andrews day had been specifically chosen for the ceremony to take place and it was a pleasure to be able to contribute the sound of the bagpipes to what was a very moving ceremony.
