I had started to research my fathers information a few years ago - TopicsExpress

I had started to research my fathers information a few years ago but came to a dead end. He had only told us that he came to Canada when he was 12 to work on a farm. We never knew for sure if he was a home child, only that his parents were both deceased in England and that he had an older brother and sister. Over the years it was discovered that he had his birth date wrong (March3, 1909 as opposed to May 5 1910). This was discovered when an insurance company needed his info around 1953. I just recently found his name on a passenger list of home children on the SS Montnairn that sailed from Liverpool to Quebec in August of 1925.It appears that they were headed for the National Childrens Home in Hamilton Ontario. I know that he came to Huron County (Varna/ Bayfield area) to work on a farm. Can some one give me a direction to go from here, either forwards or backward?. I do have some of his information reguarding his birthplace and parents and siblings. Its too bad that we decide to trace our roots after the people who hold the key to a lot of info have passed. He married my mother in October of 1932 and served in the First Hussars from 1939 to 1945.. Appreciate any help that could be provided here.
