I hate narco-corridos, Ill be straight up about it. I love corridos from the old days by Vincente fernandez, Federico villa, los tigres del norte, and Jose alfredo jimenez. Narco-corridos are just fuel to the war that is goin on in the mexico. 120,000 people have been killed since 2006 and thats not counting the 22,000+ people that are missing. Artistas shouldnt be composing songs about how great these cartels and cartel members are. They should be making songs that lift their country up not destroy it from the inside. Watch this video and the other 2 parts and youll understand my point of view (yes its in English). Im not ranting because I dont like Mexican music, check my phone youll find I have more Mexican music than I do any other genre, Im ranting because I actually care about that country where my roots are, I care about my family thats in the midst of this war, and I dont wanna tell my kids one day that we cant go to the country of their grandparents because its to dangerous. If I ever bring up traveling to mexico to my Caucasian friends they will automatically say: its to dangerous dont go it sucks to think that is how most non-Mexican people define Mexico as. Maybe one day instead of saying: its dangerous theyll say instead: its beautiful.
