I have MANY wonderful FB friends in hideous red states - and yes, my state of WA also has hideous red zones, which are scaring the hell out of me. Right now, the Republicans in my state, with massive money from ALEC, are trying to ruin public education by stubbornly refusing to adequately fund it - despite our own state supreme court ordering them to do so! Many areas of our country are more purple than red or blue - and that is scary, too - because it is the influence of FOX News and right wing media that is making it so. How far does this go?? I dont know what to do about the solidly red states - as they take what is left of sane America, put it in a chokehold and begin killing us. My FB friends in red states may not truly see how bad it is, because perhaps you are somewhat numb from living with right wing wackos day after day - but for instance- when I read about what the Texas Board of Education is doing ... I do not want them anywhere near me. I look at Kansas, Oklahoma, all of the Southern states- St Louis with its black police union AND its white police union??!! I find out via FB friends that the police departments throughout the South are heavily infiltrated by the KKK... Excuse me!!?? Is it any wonder I want to separate?? If my good liberal friends in those zones endure..... I do not know how. What are the rest of us supposed to do? Wait until these maniacs have the whole country in lockdown? I am dreadfully worried about what the Republicans will do via LAW in the next two years. I am so very serious. They have the Supreme Court almost under their control - and have you SEEN some of the shit Scalia has been saying?? Holy crap. It very definitely is time for people to pay attention and put our energy into figuring out what the hell to do, when a former VP is on TV bragging about ripping up prisoners colons and most of the country cheers him on. I put this situation squarely on the shoulders of our loss of independent media ownership. THAT is how we got here. Without rational and honest voices guiding our frankly NOT THAT BRIGHT population, pointing out important issues, and critiquing our government leaders and politics and lawmakers, we are doomed. When the size of some womans ass is better known in America than who is Speaker of the House, we are in deep shit.
