I have been working as a nurse for over 10 years now. I have never received the flu vaccine. This year the vaccine is mandatory or you will be terminated from your position. I find this incredibly scary, that the government can force us to put a foreign substance into our body. We should be able to CHOOSE what we put into our bodies. The flu vaccine may be ineffective against the flu. I am also skeptical about whether vaccinating health care workers will prevent flu in patients. And the side effects/risks of the vaccine are very real. A healthy immune system is the best way to prevent most illnesses. Good nutrition, regular exercise, adequate rest, proper hand washing techniques, and staying away from medications!! Big brother and big pharm.....
