I have had a very good year so far with my little wild strawberries that have been spreading throughout the front garden. They are tasty and go well in salads. I made a really tasty foraged salad with leaves from the lime tree, Ground elder flowers, raspberry leaves, wild strawberry leaves and ripe, tiny wild strawbs, geranium flowers, tops from Rosebay willow herb, hawthorn leaves, last bits of tops of unflowered nettles, and bits of extra flavour from mint, tops and flowers of lemon thyme and Sweet cicely. All coarsely ripped up, flowers and fruit left intact for appearance, with a dressing of mango chutney, rasberry vinegar, mango juice, lemon juice and a dash of tawny port! The tastes of the dressing combined really well, sharp, fruity and refreshing and went well with the salad and berries. Not too shoddy if I do say so myself!
