I have just finished a jigsaw puzzle I have been working on for more than six years. The picture was so obvious I should have known long ago how the pieces fit together. I should have trusted my instincts when I picked up the first piece and realized that this puzzle was going to be very difficult to put together. I didnt like the colors I saw but I thought I could somehow magically change the pieces and put them in a different order to form what I wanted to see. But they are pre-cut, after all, and try as you will, they will only fit together one way. I spent a lot of time and energy on this puzzle, but the finished product is not something I want to save or hang on my wall. In fact, I will be glad to take it apart and pass it on - no, on second thought, I would never put someone else else through what I have gone through, trying to make those pieces fit together. No, I think that would be rather cruel. It has been a valuable once-in-a-lifetime exercise; now it is time to do something more enjoyable and create something that I do want to hang on my wall.
