I have riden in the ambulance with Faith far too many times. The refusal, and I say with absolute certainty, the refusal of drivers to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle is far too numerous. I know factually drivers who knew we were behind them and knew we needed them to yield, who would slow down to further impend our progress deliberately. This problem cannot be addressed by the emergency personnel. Theyre having to find the safest route in an emergency. This includes having to deal with drivers who intentionally violate the law regarding the requirements to yield. My hope is that the law can be amended to allow onboard cameras to record license tag and identity of the vehicle violating the law with a citation to be mailed, similar to what is being done now with red light cameras and speeding cameras.
