I have tried to drive home the point here of the end game for school reform: privatizing public education. After attending Diane Ravitchs NPE event on Saturday it was clear we have not been focusing enough on this reality. CC and HST are just the tools being used for privatizers to close public schools and open charters. These organizations have goals and mission statements right on their websites of privatizing ENTIRE STATES! As we know, two already exist on LI, and another being proposed for Lawrence. Our NY cities are already inundated with them. All they need is a foot in the door to spread like a virus across the state. We need to expand our focus to what is happening all across the country. It is a nightmare. And theyve got their sights set on NY. I still believe opting out is the way to strip these corporate monsters of their tools for expanding. The way to end CC, and the way to take back our classrooms. But PLEASE. Keep your third eye on this issue. The very REASON this disease has spread cannot be ignored.
