I have white people tell me that I shouldnt write Black erotica, that my characters should be colorless, human, that Im racist for making my characters proud and Black. They dont tell white writers that their characters and storylines have to be colorless, that they need to write stories that dont reflect white experiences. They dont tell Black people who write stereotypical/ghetto stories that they need to write stories about colorless characters. They never seem to have a problem with anything that depicts us as rappers, drug dealers, basketball players, and barely literate no good baby mamas and welfare queens. You never see a white person criticizing that sort of work. Let me write about Black people being in love, being emotionally mature, being in a healthy relationship and who are decidedly Black characters with Black vernacular and experiences . . . white people come out of the woodworks to tell me how I am racist and I need to write about color doesnt matter and cant we all just get along and Kumbayah. We cant have nothing positive about us without them telling us that were wrong.
