I hear so many moms who say that they cant make time for the little stuff because they have children, a job, etc. Cant get a manicure, curl hair, go to the gym, go on dates with the husband or partner. WHY?! Because you are tired? Because you dont have time? Because you work full time and have a famiy? I get asked how I have the time myself to do these things and more. I know having a supporting husband makes it easier, but also, communicating how important it is for me as a woman, mother, wife to have this time helps and it improves all the other areas in my life too. I have set individual priorities. Theres no single right way to manage our lives. Even among those of us who are close, professionally and personally, differences exist. I dont worry which category I am in... I have heard were all bad mothers who do it all. I laugh at that. I, like you, make silly jokes when someone asks me how I do it all. Because really? Its a myth. Doing it all is a myth. I am busy and crazed and I have four active kids. I know in most peoples eyes, Im not doing it right. I have been judged. Including some in my own family. In my heart and my head though, I know Im doing the best I can and that has to be enough for me, my kids and my husband. Despite all my shortcomings, I seem to be doing something right, because my kids are truly amazing and my marriage is strong on an intimacy level, friendship level, and secure level! :) My kids are alive, happy and inspired by me, my house is fairly clean daily, we have friends over every now and again, we have date night once a week, I look good, dress up all the time and feel awesome about myself, I set goals, and my career is moving forward... I am happy, house is happy, husband is happy. We may be parents, but I have never thought that meant we have to be servants. If you call that “doing it all” then yes, I DO and I do it WELL!! :) I admire those who juggle so effectively. “We can have it all, but not all at once” and “its a marathon, not a sprint – you have to pace yourself but you are capable of anything you set your mind to do! Its not easy, but Ive found the not so easy road is worth it.
