I hope this doesnt come across as a shameless political plug - but I thought Id share this in case some of you might be interested or be able to help out. _----------------_ Hey! Do you an old laptop or computer sitting around gathering dust? Would you like to do something with it? Are you fed up with Tony Abbotts shenanigans? Do you like the idea of a politician trying to keep the bastards honest, broadening our political discussion and not towing the egregious party lines that justified both the Liberal partys and Labor partys detention and vilification of asylum seekers? Why let that computer gather more dust, counting down its days until the year when it can join over 15 million other electronic devices we Australians discard every year - or maybe! - if its really lucky it might be part of the 9% that gets recycled for copper, silver, gold and palladium. Even by the time you got that computer in your door, over 500 kg of CO2, about 20 kilograms of chemicals and a bit over 1 metric tonne of water had already been used just to make an ordinary desktop! So, why dont you do something green for the Greens? Scott Ludlam, the Western Australian Senator who delivered to my mind the most evocative and pertinent of speeches since the election of the Abbott government (link below) is running for re-election; and the Greens party office in Brisbane needs your old computers and hardware to spread the word in WA and help with the campaign. Their needs are very basic – the computer needs to have at least: * Turned on last time you used it ! * 1 Ghz Processor * 256 MB Ram Basically – any computer bought from 2005 on-wards! Laptops would be ideal, since theyre portable and compact and use far less power - but if youve got an old desktop youre burning to get rid of, theyd be very interested in those too. To get in contact please phone or email the lovely volunteers at the Windsor based office on (07) 3357 8458, or [email protected] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- For your peace of mind and security, all data (hard drives) will be completely wiped using Active@Kill Disk. All documents, pictures, personal details, web history and anything other data on your computer will be destroyed completely - forever. So make sure you back up anything you might want! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://youtube/watch?v=dtqrfiEV8Gs
