I just finished Max Lucado’s book “Fearless” this morning - TopicsExpress

I just finished Max Lucado’s book “Fearless” this morning and the chapter was titled “The One Healthy Terror”. He based it on the transfiguration Christ in front of Peter, James and John on Mount Hermon. Jesus revealed Himself in a way they had never seen Him before as well as hearing God claim Christ as His Beloved Son. Matthew 17: 6-7 (NIV) says 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” Jesus was telling them they had the wrong kind of fear. Max Lucado states “When God is fully revealed to us and we ‘get it’, then we experience the conversion of our fear…’Fear of the Lord’ is the deeply sane recognition that we are not God.” Contemplate Max’s challenge… “How long since you have felt this fear? Since a fresh understanding of Christ buckled your knees and emptied your lungs? Since a glimpse of Him left you speechless and breathless? If it has been a while, that explains your fears.” You see, when Christ is large and in charge of your life, you fear living it without Him because you know deep down inside that He is the only one who truly knows what is best for you and wants it you more than you want it yourself. So when life gets us down and our fears start to creep in, we need to go to the mountain top like the Peter, James and John did. They climbed 9,200 feet overlooking the Dead Sea and wonderful land below it and see how much it pales to looking at Jesus robed in all of His Honor and Glory. Then His peace will settle in and lift us up and carry us on.
