I just heard the news that Paper Crafts Magazine is closing their digital doors after their February issue. What does this mean to the industry? Sadly, its not looking good. All of the smaller scrapbooking companies are being swallowed up by one bigger one or closing all together. All of the paper magazines have folded. All of the Archivers have closed their doors. When I tell people what I do, I see the look on their faces, and I know what they are thinking. Paper crafts? Its just paper! And they dont think what I do has any meaning. Its NOT just paper, its allowing yourself to be creative, have time to yourself, make things for other people, to inspire others, bring joy to others, preserve memories for your children. Working in this industry has meaning to me. Just like quilting or photography or cooking can start out as hobbies ...paper crafts started out as hobby for me that, over 15 years, became a profession. One that I love SO much! This is such a sad day for me to see a company like Paper Crafts, who brought a terrific amount of excitement and encouragement to this industry, disappear. Whats next?
