I just read a tragic thread on Viola Davis FB page. It just got ridiculous. 1st we were divided based on our hues. Light skinned vs dark skinned. Then it was long hair vs short hair. Good hair vs Bad Hair...oh, go get a relaxer if you have bad hair...OH now, its Natural vs Relaxer/Weaves/Wigs. Just cut it out already, stop the division. Sisters love yourselves and love your Sisters. Brothers love your Queens. Stop jumping on that bandwagon to bash these Sisters because they straighten their hair or wear weave. And the finger pointing always comes from our own culture. Its time to cut it out and to truly embrace who we are. We are various shades of beauty, with various, beautiful textures of hair. Our creativity is like no other. What other culture develops the hair styles that we do? None. Our sisters are so creative with their hair... Such beautiful styles worn naturally, with relaxers, weaves, wigs, cut short, you name it. And lets not forget the artist that works tirelessly on her feet 10-12 hours a day in a beauty salon creating these styles. Why arent we embracing them? Love who we are as a people and quit judging our black women based on how they choose to wear their hair. Someone actually said, Wear your hair natural and love yourself. I wear a relaxer and I love myself. Oh the shock, someone reading this thought I couldnt possibly love myself just because I straighten my hair. Heres another, my husband (a black man) loves me too. Oh, there goes the end of the black race as we know it...now we are all doomed. Bring out the bleaching cream. Ok, Im being sarcastic but, just cut it out. Alright? Love you all.
