I know some consider all caps to be screaming....but my response is THIS IS WORTH SCREAMING ABOUT !!! Through many years of laptop use and ownership [IBM R50e, HP DV9653CL, T400, T500, A200 and now an HP DV6153TX and an M300 Satellite] I can assure you from my experiences [and the situations of a myriad of other users as Ive read all over the net] that the #1 cause of laptop power adapters failing; and I believe it to be the root cause behind DC power inlet sockets becoming damaged and unable to be used] is because nearly all power adapters supplied as OEM equipment consist of a straight plug to insert into the DC volts inlet socket. This tends to cause the weight of the adapter lead to exert uneven pressure on the cable itelf, usually adjacent to the moulded plug, and sooner or later that will result in damage to electrical connection of the wires to the terminals of the plug. This leads to people trying to manipulate the cable to provide a connection, and whilst THAT is being attempted the damage to the DC inlet socket begins to manifest itself. If manufacturers supplied a right angled plug, as indeed you get if you have to buy an aftermarket adapter such as a Belkin or a Targus because in their attempts to provide multiple tips to suit a variety of manufacturers laptops, their units are designed for the tip to plug in the leads output socket at 90 decrees. The insertion into a laptop of the 90 degree type plug greatly reduces the strain of the cable pulling against itself and eventually causing circuit misfunction. THEN you wont have consumers trying to wiggle a lead to get it to work, whilst they simultaneously wiggle the internals of the DC input socket which WILL cause failure at some point in time. Then you have to decide against a costly repair or the bricking of a laptop for no good reason. Somehow we need to get the ball rolling.....this really does demand your support !!
