I lost someone whos been in my life all my life yesterday. Brian who moved to Hartlepool to be near his sis and met my mam and dad when they both worked on the buses. Our family didnt have a car he drove us, took me to my first Liverpool game in 1985 and waited outside with my mam and dad then met me in the Kop in the second half, never had his own family so he classed ours as his. Driving through the night back and forward to Liverpool in the middle of the night listening to the Beatles. A strong proud man who Ive watched slowly die over the last year where hes been in and out of hospital and nursing homes, unable to take care of himself I cuddled him and said Im sorry I cant help you walk or clean yourself at the toilet. Not once has he complained in all the times Ive visited him over the last year has he complained about what was happening to him. Ill remember always the dignity hes showed and Ill remember always whats hes done for me and my family. I spoke to him Monday and was planning and told him I was visiting today, hardly able to speak he said he appreciated it. He called me little man so today brian your pal little man is saying rest in peace and I never let you walk alone :(
