I love Xinjiang folk songs, some of which are as beautiful as Italian folk songs. Heres one of my favourites: A lovely rose, a Kazakh folk song as arranged by the late composer, Wang Luobin. I include both the arranged version as well as the original (in Kazakh language). Years ago on his state visit to Kazakstan, former President Jiang Zheming, who is very fond of singing, sang it after a state banquet, saying it was a Chinese folk, only to be corrected by his host that it was a Kazakh folk song.
