I love hearing stories from women who have excelled in male dominated professions. So I really enjoyed last week’s AFL Young Women’s Invitational Breakfast and the chance to hear from Caitlin Maggs, Rose O’Dea, Carrie Graff, Courtney Gum and our own Senator Kate Lundy. Caitlin is an electrician, has her own small business and was an apprentice of the year. Rose is doing an Honours degree in biology and is one of three female AFL goal umpires. Wonderful reflections on success, overcoming adversity and the need to prioritise, set goals and enjoy life. Strong turnout of young women from St Mary Mackillop College thanks to one of the brains behind the breakfast, principal Michael Lee.
