I love my stepfather. A sweet Jewish middle child from New York ( Aquarius to the core ) who married my insane Swedish mother- I sat at a deli counter in San Francisco and ate the eclairs he let me select from a spinning display of deserts when I was three. My earliest memories of Jim Miller are of sugar and gentle companionship. He allowed me to put plastic butterfly clips in his hair and he let me pretend to be asleep so he could carry me from his car to my Marimeko bunny bed. Remarried to an amazing woman who has embraced me and supported my awkward creative behavior I thank the stars this amazing man is in my life. As we develop this voyeuristic digital window into the worlds of other people, lets thank the people who raise the people who may not be their genetic link but instead the iron ladder that creates the foundation to their creative identity. Happy birthday to me for being lucky enough to encounter deep love when I was too young to hold my breath underwater.
