I need some help please and Im willing to show up with a $100 gift certificate, 1000 sheets of paper and a replacement toner cartridge (or max $50 towards one) to get it. I have a client, with a printer that just died, that needs to print one final run of 600 paper invoices from a cloud server in Chicago. Of course they bought a replacement printer but didnt check to see if it was compatible with the systems they were using. What you need to collect this ethical bribe from me is the following: A NETWORK based printer (Must have an ethernet port and be connected to a local network) An LPD print queue (the printer MUST support LPD (unix) style printing) -- find your printer model and check it via google to confirm it does in fact support LPD/LPR style printing. Printer should preferably be a Lexmark with PCL6 print capabilities although any PCL6 printer *should* work. If you cant confirm the above it isnt going to work... If you have these animals and you are willing to make them available to me I can come in with a laptop, run a SSH tunnel to Chicago, trick the systems into thinking your printer is connected to them directly and viola 600 pieces of paper later everyone is smiling. This is going to be faster and cheaper then doing a one time proper fix as the client is not using the system (due to an upgrade) after this final run.
