I need to share this: A few months ago Chad Carlberg wanted to submit our Celia Cruz Tribute performance starring #JenniferLopez for the EMMYs My Fear said: Dont do it, youll be disappointed. My Self Worth said: Its a phenomenal piece theres no reason not to. So I said yes. We had obstacles during submissions. My Fear said: Its too much of a hassle, just give up. My Self Worth said: Your life is worth fighting for, dont give into excuses. So I kept going. Chad encouraged me to create flyers to post and email friends with connections to help get the word out. My Fear said: Dont bother your friends have better things to do. My Self Worth said: Your friends love you and respect your work. Of course theyll help out. Indeed they all Did! I woke up this morning with Chad to watch the nominations. As I sat waiting, I thought of the journey that is my life. I could see my mom taking me to dance class. I could smell the wood from the studio where I danced. I saw Kenny Ortegas face when I danced for him the first time. I could feel the hugs of everyone that Ive ever connected with because of dance. I cried...I was so full of happiness and gratitude. I came back to Chad, we looked at the list.. We werent on it. My Fear said: I told you so!! My Self Worth said: It was worth every step of the Journey. I turned my back from Fear and stood face to face with my Self Worth and I said Yes, your right. The journey was and still is worth it. Disappointment is just a jab at our Fears. Its up to us to see there is a bigger picture to each of our lives. Im grateful to every person that has been there for me, taught me and fought for me. I will not disappoint you because I will continue to connect, teach and fight for each of you. Were all worth it. Thank you to @Jennifer Lopez who believed in us and killed it on the stage. To Chad who has been my partner thru everything. Your creativity and faith made this special. To Eve Mason and the cast of amazing Dancers that brought their passion to the floor, you blew me away everyday. To my friends that cheered us on all the way. Thank you! I bow humbly to each of you. Congratulations to each of the nominees that were selected this year. You deserve it. #breakingbarriers !!!
