I plead with you all to please read the post where Historian Says Dick Allen Greatest Slugger in the Last Half Century and maybe EVER ! This is a new dynamic that we are trying to get across to the various Committees. I know that we are going out of the box a little, but Dick Allen has been on either the BBWAA Ballot or the Veterans Committee ballot every year since 1982. On all of these ballots 75% of the vote is needed for induction into the HALL OF FAME. For some reason I dont think Dick Allen ever received as much as 30% of the vote. As I recently told a reporter, that nothing else has worked for this guy, so lets try this. I also hear that comparing Dick Allen to a player of Mike Schmidts stature is an embarrassment to Mike Schmidt. Well when we match the numbers up, that the people in Cooperstown want, Dick Allen wins out slightly vs. Schmidt. As I stated before, the traditional numbers have not put Dick Allen in the Hall of Fame so if Mike Schmidt gets embarrassed, its not Dick Allens fault that his lifetime average in nowhere close to Dick Allens. These are the new formulas that these voters want, so we are only giving them what they want. The 162 game Comparisons ,the How did he do against his peers ? Well he excelled in all of those categories and his OPS + of 165 from 1964 to 1973 is ranked #1 ahead of 17 Hall of Famers. So please tell me, that comparing him with Mike Schmidt is wrong. By the way during Schmidts ten year period from 1974 to 1983 he led all of baseball with an OPS+ of 155. Ten points lower than Dick Allen. So you can arguably or factually say, that Dick Allen was the most productive hitter in a 20 year period. So by using these numbers and introducing the POWER ELEMENT I feel this is the way we must present out case, in addition to all of the other numbers and Testimonials from Players, Managers, General Managers and Owners. WRONG ? . I dont think so. Number 15 had a gift and it was his natural talent and his ability to hit a ball perhaps farther than ANYONE in the HISTORY OF BASEBALL. I will go to my grave believing all if this should Easily qualify Dick Allen as a Hall of Famer. Thanks for reading.
