I posted this in the FB site, Marcos: Never Again in 2016 and I am re-posting it here so that all may be aware and be prepared to counter the following pro-Marcos lies being peddled now by their ilk: 1. They always relate any anti-Marcos sentiment as being pro-Aquino. The Aquinos are evil, hence, Marcos was a saint. 2. All the studies/data/reports about the oppresion and systematic plunder during the Marcos regime are propaganda 3. Conversely, any data supporting Marcos is gospel truth 4. For every post you will make against the Marcoses, they will put perhaps 5 pro-Marcos comments for every 1 anti-Marcos comment 5. The Philippines was the second most economically powerful country in Asia DURING Marcos term (of course, we truly were by the time he took office in 1965. By 1986, we were in the dumps). 6. The victims of martial law were criminals and enemies of the state. Hence, considering them martyrs or heroes means you are sympathizing with criminals. 7. Most of the pro-Marcos posts come from kids too young to know, but allegedly heard the stories from their parents, grandparents, etc... about the Marcos regime and Martial Law. 8. All presidents that followed Marcos failed to uplift the status of living in the country. Hence, Marcos was the best president ever (Truly defies logic. The failure of any president after Marcos can not, will not and shall never ever mean he was a good president. It only means perhaps, that they all suck!). 9. Corruption persists to this day. Hence, the time of Marcos is better since at least he was able to build SLEX & NLEX, PHIL. HEART CENTER, NKTI, LUNG CENTER, etc... (they conveniently forgot it was Imeldas edifice complex that brought us a lot of debt from the IMF-WB. 10. Recently, I saw a post circulating how beautiful Manila was in the 70s to 80s (before EDSA 86). But they forgot that in 1981, before Pope JP2s first Manila visit, Her Excellency had walls built around the informal settlers colony at the corner of Quirino Ave. & Osmena Highway so the Pope will not see the situation in Manila. That wall still stands today. Floods? Oh yes! Way back 1984, my mom and I waded in waist-deep floodwaters along Taft Ave. Espana was also under waist-deep waters and Lagusnilad was impassable. Proof that the deterioration of Manila began during the much-vaunted time of the Metro Manila Commission with Her Excellency as its head and Mel Mathay as her assistant. --- CONCLUSION? I really worry about the future. I will concede, it appears they have the upper hand. Somethings wrong that the truth is not able to sink in to a lot of todays younger generation. #neveragain
