I posted this previously on FB, but not focused to the Chess mailing list. This is significant enough that Ill risk some of you seeing it twice. Here goes: Hi Everyone. BIG NEWS!!! The (Michigan International) Fall Festival lives (read on). Ed Mandell is owner of All The Kings Men in Warren (suburban Detroit, Michigan, USA), a long time tourney director, who has organized the historic Motor City Open (MCO) for several years. Michigan Chess Festival LLC (my company) has supported the MCO in the past, and it is doing so this year. Ed and I just concluded negotiations, and Im pleased... happy... excited to report that we have agreed that this years MCO will carry the additional designation Fourth Annual Fall Festival. We expect to have a fine roster of FIDE titled players (the open section will be FIDE rated, but less than 9 rounds, so not norm possible), from the USA, and beyond. We also expect a strong contingent of Michigan players... and hope for a continued representation of outstanding Canadian players as well. More to follow!
