I promised you guys my head cannons so here they are. First is Clato. Tell me what you think :) I lay my head on Cato’s lap as we sit in the grass in District 2. I never want this to end, but I know tomorrow is the reaping. I know that Cato plans on volunteering to enter the arena. He’s bigger than most of the 18 year olds here, so even though he is only 16 he can probably make it out. However, he doesn’t know that I plan on volunteering too… I wish I could just tell him, but I know he would try to talk me out of it. “Babe?” Cato’s sweet voice brings me out of my daydream. “Mhm?” “Sit up for a second please. I have something for you.” I sit up as he stands up and pulls something glittering from his pocket. “Clove. Tomorrow I am going to be on my way to the Arena. I am planning on coming back, but just in case I don’t I want to make sure you remember me.” I look down at his hand for the first time and see an engagement ring. “Cato! Does this mean, what I think it means” “When I come home the victor, I want to know you are mine and I want you to marry me.” I am speechless. All I can do is kiss him on the lips. We sit there until the sun starts to set and then go to our own separate houses. I wake up on the day of the reaping and put on the orange dress I laid out the night before. I meet Cato outside of my house and we walk hand in hand to the reaping. They take our blood and then Cato and I walk our separate ways to stand with the other children our age. Our mentor, Brutus and our escort, Sarafina, walk out on stage. After President Snow’s speech, Sarafina starts to talk. She has bright green hair and is wearing a green dress to match. Only something you would see in the capitol. “Lets change things up this year, boys first” She reaches into the bowl and pulls out a single piece of paper, “Claudius Greenberg!” A twelve year old boy starts walking up to the stage and from the distance I hear Cato’s voice scream “I volunteer as tribute” A relived Claudius walks back to his spot, as Cato proudly takes his place on stage. “Ok! Now for the girls!” She reaches in and I am prepared to volunteer when I hear, “Clove Kentwell!” No one volunteers for me... I slowly walk to the stage my eyes on Cato. With tears in my eyes I shake his hand and walk back stage. As soon as we get off stage, Cato grabs me and hugs me. “It’s going to be ok. You will make it out alive, even if I don’t” We are sent into our separate rooms, and I sit and cry myself to sleep. How am I going to kill him if it comes down to it? I won’t be able to. I will have to die before him ~gwtb
