I read a story one time about a man named Cortez, a famous explorer who set food on the shores of Mexico, he did an amazing thing. He ordered his soldiers to set fire to the ships that had carried them from Spain to Central America. No backing out at a later date. No boats hiding in the bushes just in case. Only ashes on the beach. This man was committed. Are we that committed to Christ? Or are we like the Jewish leaders in John 12? At the same time many even among the leaders believed in him {Jesus}. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise from men more than praise from God {John 12:42-43} Many today have a hard time with commitment with anything, we change jobs, we change locations, we change churches, we change friends, we change relationships........We need to be rooted and grounded in love, committed to Christ and His cause. Without Gods direct intervention, all the vows and promises and pledges in the world wont mean a thing. To be truly committed, we need the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Ask for a deeper commitment this week and a greater love and desire to know Him. Have a great day on purpose!
