I received this email this morning. This beautiful senior is looking for a loving retirement home. The shelter, even a No-Kill, is just no place for a 10-year old boy. See email below: I am writing to you on behalf of my favorite dog here at the Delaware SPCA in Georgetown, Delaware, Keno! Keno is about 10 years old and he ended up at our sister shelter in Stanton, De when his owners grew tired of him. The poor old guy was in the noisy adoption room for a few months, attended all of the offsite adoption events and made the staff fall in love with him, but no one wanted to adopt him. He was transferred to us about 6 weeks ago and he has made himself at home in my office. He sleeps in a crate at night, but spends most of his days lying on his bed by my feet as I work. He is very friendly, making sure to greet anyone who passes through our office. I LOVE this dog, but have my own temperamental 6 year old dog at home that would not enjoy his company. Keno is a black pit/lab mix. We think he is partially blind and deaf; however there is nothing wrong with his nose! He smells treats a mile away! He is on joint supplements and seems a little stiff in the mornings. He prefers the company of humans and does not like when he is outside in the yard by himself. He walks nicely on a leash and still shows his playful side if you jog with him. He can be a little grabby with treats, but we think that is because of his eyesight. He does not like cats, but he does ok with dogs his own energy level. Feeding him separately would be our only suggestion. I am hoping your organization can help this sweet old guy live out his golden years in the comfort he deserves. It breaks my heart to leave him here at the end of the day. Keno is neutered, UTD on Vaccines, HW negative, and microchipped. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or call the shelter 302-856-6361 if you can help him out or know of anyone that can. We will do any transport needed. Pictures attached. Thank you,, Joanne Murphy, Volunteer and Development Coordinator, Delaware SPCA, Georgetown shelter
