I so did not follow my own rules. We call it house lockdown where the 2 front entrance way doors are always locked so the Savannahs dont get out. The back French doors from the living room open up to a screened in pool enclosure in which all the doors are locked. My rule: If I go out either front entrance the kittens are either in lockdown or closed in the pool enclosure momentarily with the French doors closed on lockdown. Not really as complicated as it sounds. Bottom line is segregation for safety with doors locked so they cant escape...no matter what I do as I do laundry and go in and out of the garage which is one of the front door entrances, and thus, when I do I either lock them in their rooms or in lock down in the pool enclosure momentarily till I can get in and out of the front entrance. Well, this may seem a bit complicated, but if you know my house it works for us. I really screwed up tonight, and thought I could just run out the front side door to the garage, and that little bastard Tau hauled ass...Good Bye my 5 thousand dollars cat, but OMG...I am afraid like nothing has ever hit me in my life. He is just a baby so isolated and has no clue what outside life is. I am screaming and crying and it is so dark out, I can not see Baby Tau. I run back in to get a can of food to hit it so he may hear...This is like a matter of 2 minutes. All front lights on. No Baby Tau...now 4 minutes. I see him dart almost near the road, and God, I love my stray black cat and HIV...they both darted and attacked him and held him down with their paws and bodies till I could get over there to pick him up from under them. They saved Baby Tau till I got him. Otherwise he would have been gone or hit by a car. I am amazed how my strays knew he needed help. Baby Tau has over 20% African serval blood in him, so he is wild as sin and will bolt in a heartbeat given the chance. I really need to tighten my a......ss up and my rules need to be a bit stricter. Bad bad bad bad Mommy......I may add I am a really bad mom because HIV is not suppose to be outside, but in this instance I was lucky. If only I had a picture of my two strays literally sitting on this baby cat holding him down so he was paralyzed and could not move till I got him. They knew I was screaming, banging a cat food can and looking. They helped me...That is amazing. Baby Tau is safe. HIV is in and black is in her blankeys....It is a happy ending and I will never ever go against my rules again. Wild cat...need to watch and abide by your own rules....Sigh of relief...So many stories of kittens.....they are a mess:)
