I swam the Frogman 2015 Swim in honor of SOCS (Seal) John Marcum, 34, of Flushing Michigan. Senior Chief Petty Officer Marcum was killed September 8, 2008, during a firefight with heavily armed militants in Afghanistan. His unit was forward deployed to conduct combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I thought about him often in the 60 degree water over the 3.1 miles, and with help from my brother Matt Jackson in the kayak, we finished!
