I think I may have figured out the actual intent of the canada/EU - TopicsExpress

I think I may have figured out the actual intent of the canada/EU free trade agreement. What is the biggest issue facing the canadian economy, namely the alberta economy?... lack of skilled workers... Europe is struggling on the edge of collapse, there are no jobs. Part of the agreement is the free exchange of workers across borders. this isnt only ability to move canadians to other countries by to move individuals from europe to here. Our current government went under fire recently for the whole temporary foreign work program. with this trade deal, i dont see this being an issue. Hypothetical: What would prevent suncore from firing its entire workforce once the deal has gone through? you would think this would be impossible, but i disagree, those projects are structured in phases, when a phase ends, the workers are laid off, and re-hired by either the next company who gets the contract or the same company. But if you now have access to 500 million more people, based on the rules of supply and demand, why on earth would you pay some half retarded canadian $50/h to run a dump truck when you could hire an impoverished greek or Spaniard for 1/3 of that, and not face ANY repercussions or fees to do so? This free trade agreement will only favour the corporations who already have the ability to go international. the manufacturing sector in ontario would have no restrictions to import a cheaper labor force. or take it even further and move its manufacturing overseas to those markets with greater ease because of the financial benefits of the free trade agreement. They say that NAFTA has has positive effects much more than the negatives of the collapse of the automotive sector, the collapse of the softwood lumber. a massive decline in agricultural in mexico and a major increase in impoverished peoples in mexico. Obviously this is only a theory i came up with after looking into a brief history of nafta. This idea is only further advanced by the new policies of the conservative government that wish to destroy organized labor and loosen workers rights in the workplace. There is a lot more to all of this and i hope to figure more things out. Are these situation likely? not possible? i have no idea. Free trade ONLY benefits the Rich. Sure, it would be nice to accept a package from europe and NOT pay duty, but is saving $20-$30 on some item worth destroying the future of canadian prosperity?
