I think if they change the name of the Redskins then there are other team names that should be changed. Ill start with a baseball team that is based in New York City: the Yankees. As a descendant of those who fought against the people during the War of Southern Succession, the name Yankees is reprehensible to me and probably others but who have until now been hesitant to state it. Another is a football team based in New England: the Patriots. To people who were loyalist during the American Revolution, George Washington was not a patriot but a traitor to his King and all of those who followed him did so likewise. Im surprised His Majestys Government has filed a protest over that name. The football team in New York City and a baseball team in San Francisco both have teams named the Giants. We should show the team name for what is really is: a team that makes fun and holds up for ridicule those individuals who suffer the a disability known as Gigiantism. I suppose these same people who would applaud the name for the Redskins dont feel the same way about the name Giants. While were talking about football teams, the University of Notre Dame has a team called the Fighting Irish. The very name itself stereotypes all Irish and Irish-Americans a fighters and brawlers. I am neither nor do I have any plans to become one in the rest of my lifetime. Other team names should include the Cougars (a name for older women on the prowl for younger men), the Dolphins (a protected species too often caught by tuna fishermen), the Eagles (a species that also represents the United States as its national bird), the Falcons (a blood-thirsty hunter who kills without remorse), the Titans (a mythical beast who also killed without remorse), the Saint (remember separation of Church and State in a much as a public forum allows the team to play within that city and therefore violates the separation of that doctrine), and Chargers (which by virtue of its name recommends a unwise economic course where a purchase is made without benefit if cash funding to provide for that purchase.) For just about any team there is probably some objection to either its name or its logo. For those of you who still want the name of the Redskins to change, please deposit the sum of $750,000,000.00 in the bank account of Mr. Snyder, the owner of the team. When all is said and done, Mr. Snyder and Mr. Snyder alone (and not the liberal, politically correct crowd) will make that decision. I like the name of the Redskins. I say keep the name and get rid of the name-change fanatics.
