I think one major problem the world faces - is that Asia as a whole - has not yet been through an Enlightenment and a Scientific Revolution unlike the post-Industrial West. That is why ideals like Feminism, Secularism and so on - have not deeply entrenched themselves in most Asian societies. However things are not all that bad. So long as the economic growth of Asia persists - then I think that Asian societies will evolve and slowly but surely - absorb those ideals. Whereas there has been previous debate regarding Asian and Western Values, today I think the main issue before us - is the Universal impact of the Industrial and post-Industrial Economy on both the East and the West. The world has a pretty good chance at making a Universal civilization this century. Or it can reject Scientific Progressivism and blow itself up in a Clash of Civilizations. I prefer to be optimistic and I sure hope that we will - together - build a Universal civilization. :)
