I try to avoid political discussions and want it to be understood - TopicsExpress

I try to avoid political discussions and want it to be understood that this is NOT a political discussion. It also is a subject for which I may well be criticized. However, I accept this. It is my personal opinion, but one I truly hope individuals will think deeply about before ‘calling me names’. Frankly I am tired of hearing about how Zimmerman should be further prosecuted because of the death of Tryon Martin. Granted, it is a tragedy that never should have happened. However, Zimmerman, self-appointed or not, was doing a job of patrolling the neighborhood watch area. Martin, regardless of reason, should not have been where he was. According to testimony set forth in the trial, a jury that was selected equally by the prosecution and defense found Zimmerman guilty of no wrong doing. In fact, much of the prosecution’s case appeared to have been established in a desperate effort to meet requirements to support a case that had little legitimate basis and one that was forced by vociferous outcry by a group that is desperate, not for true justice, but rather payback for generations of injustice. Not that the outcry is not totally understandable, but it should, and must, be looked at more realistically and without bias. This is not happening and the President of the United States has done little to alleviate the situation. He has appeared on TV saying first that Martin could be his own son and more recently, that he could have been Martin. He went further by saying 35 years ago he had been stopped and questioned because he was black. This still happens today for many black men, even professional men I personally know well. However, it happens frequently for Latinos and American Indians as well. Historically speaking, ‘profiling’ has happened every time a new ethnic group has appeared in America. The Germans, Italians, Irish and Chinese all went through it but the tensions were softened with time and the influences of WW I followed by WW II, although there is still a certain amount of ‘profiling’ that exists because of the Italian Mafia the Irish ‘Mafia’ and the Chinese Tongs. And there is a certain element in each of these ethnic groups that fosters these images. Similar individuals exist in the black and Hispanic groups. Thus, President Obama should not even think he is President of the Blacks and accordingly must think along ethnic lines. He must remember that as the President of the United States of America he is president of Blacks, Whites, Yellows, Browns and even the red American Indians, and must think about justice and not what has happened to ‘his race’. This is not ‘payback time’. This is the time to heal the wounds. The country has advanced significantly towards stamping out ‘racism’. Speeches such as those recently given really have no business coming from the President of the entire country that contains so many ethnic groups. If anything, they merely function to inflame and set racial relations several steps backward.
